2007 Student Design Competition
Planning for the 2007 AIBD-PA Student Design Competition is now in progress.
Our events coordinator will be making additional contacts and
promotional efforts this year. Invitations to compete will
be mailed to many schools in South-Central PA. Our members
involved in this program will be working on promotions, the design
scenario, and other tasks in the coming months to prepare for the
competition. SUPER Enterprises remains committed to this
program and we value their partnership in this service to the
schools in the South-Central PA region. Feel free to contact
us for information about how to get involved. Our goal is to
build the foundation for this program in South-Central PA, and
then expand it, eventually to the entire state of Pennsylvania. |

Revisions to PA Society Bylaws
At the June 17, 2006 board meeting, a new set of bylaws were
adopted replacing the 1993 AIBD-PA Society bylaws. The
Institute (a.k.a. AIBD National) commissioned a bylaws committee
to draft a bylaws template for all states to use as their model.
All state societies were required to update their bylaws according
to this new standard. This was a much-needed project which
will ensure that state societies will remain in sync with our
national, parent organization. The template was reviewed and
edited to fit the PA Society operations before it was adopted.
The PA Society officers wish to thank the national bylaws
committee for the hard work that went into this important project.
The current state society bylaws are available to any member in
good standing upon request. |

Code Training Opportunity
Pennsylvania now has a statewide building code which has been
in effect since April 9, 2004. If you would like to get
comprehensive training on the code, you may contact the
Pennsylvania Construction Codes Academy (PCCA). The PCCA
was created by the Governor's Center for Local Government
Services, Department of Community & Economic Development to
address training and certification requirements for construction
code officials statewide. Academy courses are open to
anyone: code officials, inspectors, and design
professionals. Courses are fast-paced and are directed
primarily to those who already possess a basic knowledge of
building construction principles and codes. |
